Washington DC – Breakfasts At Unusual Cafes

___ Try the pancakes at Parkway Deli, and they also have waffles and French toast. It’s a large, pleasant room with booths and tables. But, if you come here for breakfast, also consider the fabulous New-York style deli offerings involving Jewish Foods like bagels, lox and whitefish or the cheese blintzes or potato pancakes (latkes) or Matza Brei. Note, this is NOT a kosher deli. More about this and the Jewish food choices at other meals, when I cover Washington Metro delis, later.

Parkway Deli, Silver Spring
in Rock Creek Shopping Center, 8317 Grubb Rd, Silver Spring, MD

Located off East West Hwy, 3 lights west of 16th St..

___ A Georgetown “experience” as a European retreat. Suggested: lemon souffle pancakes with mango (or passion fruit) sauce, malted waffle (with syrup and malt butter) and the house-made sausage.

Both the pancakes and waffle literally melt-in-your mouth (with a thin, crisp shell on the latter). The sausage was essentially a springy meatball. Be aware that this modern space can get loud. Take out some cake or pastries to have after another meal.
