Washington, DC – Holiday Celebrations, Xmas

Happy Holidays. May this be a peaceful, blessed Holy Time, celebrated in your own way, and may this also become the time when all Life is respected and cherished!

As the fully-lit National Menorah was replaced yesterday by the National Christmas Tree on the Presidential Ellipse, the Holiday Season is in full swing!

Mr. Obama was accompanied by his family as they and those on the Presidential Ellipse watched as he flipped the switch and the living Colorado Blue spruce tree was aglow with what looked like thousands of blue and white lights (at least those were the colors I saw at a distance).

There are 3,000 seats and 10,000 standing-room free tickets available. This whole process is overseen by The National Park Service and kudos to them as it flows smoothly every year. The tickets, as part of a free lottery, go online in early November at their site, so if you know you will be in the City, at this time of year, plan ahead.

Next year, try to get tickets by going to Ticket Process National Xmas Tree and following the link to the online ticket lottery application page at Ticket Lottery National Christmas Tree .

Additionally, any ticket seeker without access to a computer may also call (877-444-6777 or for TDD 877-833-6777) during the time the lottery is open.
