San Francisco – Everyday Insider! (TM) Trip 19G

Can you believe it, we’re still inside Golden Gate Park, in San Francisco. There’s SO much to see and do here!

The Park is a wonderful place to meet people from all over the world, but especially to meet San Franciscans. They love their Park!

Today, I’m going to share a little about the Strybing Arboretum, also known as San Francisco Botanical Garden, and it’s famous collection of plants. Aboretums are plant arks and are places with the awesome responsibility to preserve species. They are important to the planet and deserve your support.

For those interested in plants, Strybing is a go-between offering the interface between the wilder natural parts of the Park and the manicured sections. The micro-climate is also an important bonus and the fact that the whole of Golden Gate Park was man-made, largely by the expertise of John McLaren, from a natural, sand dune “scrub” area is a testament to the knowledge that mankind can bring to reclaiming what we have damaged, in successive generations, all over the planet.

Strybing aims to forge a bond between people and plants, and indeed, we really do depend on plants for all of our planet’s sustenance and atmosphere, so it is important for us to be knowledgeable.

You can learn more at their website: Strybing Arboretum, San Francisco Botanical Garden.

Be sure to see if there are any classes or events happening in the Botanical Garden when you are visiting the City. If you are not traveling internationally, you can also try to schedule your trip for when the Arboretum holds its Plant Sales.
