San Francisco – Everyday Insider (TM) Trips 3

When visitors arrive to a new city, they come with interests which are not necessarily described in guide books, and they want to meet local people who share their interests. So, my Everyday Insider(TM) tips are just what you need!

Today, I want to share a fabulous Art Supply store in San Francisco. It will be easy to get to as it’s on one of SF’s major downtown streets.

Flax Art and Design

This is San Francisco’s most famous art store and Flax Art and Design was voted by readers of SF Weekly as the “Best Art Supply Store in the Bay Area” every year since 2001.

The Flax family has enjoyed serving the creative community in the Bay Area since 1938. This store has always been well known for carrying an incredible breadth of product (over 40,000 items). And, their staff provides you with courteous and knowledgeable service. They also seek to inspire creativity through the thoughtful presentation of merchandise. You will rarely find another art store of this caliber.

When you travel, I always suggest taking some art supplies for your children and some for you, even if you do not consider yourself artistic. You will be surprised at how much you will enjoy making sketches and they can become treasures for years. Who knows, you may make them a permanent memory by framing them, and see them more often than the photos you shot!
